Music Update
Feb. 7th, 2008 10:59For once, I'm not whining about my computer :)
I'll be performing Saturday night. It's the Missouri Valley Folklife Society "Metro Artists Concert". Details here. Tonight, I'll be on KKFI doing the pre-concert interview. 10:00 - 10:30pm if you're interested. I chose the first slot because I turn pumpkin rather earlier than most lately. First time on the radio in friggin' years, so we'll see how it goes. I hope there's more talking than singing - my set is short, and I don't want to blow the whole thing on the air.
In spite of all the head/chest/cold/sinus problems I've been enjoying for the last three weeks, I have not once lost my voice, though there was a brief time that I sounded more like Dick Gaughan than myself. I pray that continues at least through Saturday night. After Saturday, I will happily lose my voice for a week, if that's the trade-off Fate demands.
I'm down mostly to the Cough That Will Not Go Away. Thankfully, otherwise, I mostly feel fine. The challenge is getting through a song without coughing, but there isn't much to do about that except to double up on dextromethorphan and hope that the audience is forgiving.
*cough* *cough*

Date: 2008-02-07 17:38 (UTC)I've become a big fan of Singer's Saving Grace spray. Tastes like shit* but works, at least in the short term, if you're having voice/throat issues.
Tell Brett I said hello.

* I'm skeptical that most herbals actually work by some intrinsic physiological or chemical mechanism. They just taste so nasty that it's in your bodies best interest to not be sick anymore to avoid more dosing.
