Or that, at least, strike me as funny.

Vista Sales Slower Than Expected
Not a headline.  My first reaction: goddamn, really?  Slower?  Well surprise, surprise.  I, for one, am not going to upgrade just for improvements to an interface - not when I have to buy another $1000 of hardware along with it.  I'll switch OSes first.  Personally, I miss Win2KPro.  Still, Ubuntu looks pretty cool..and it'll boot from a CD on a 486DX with 256mb of memory.

Greek archaeologists discover theater
Which is good, because they let their NetFlix subscription lapse.  I mean, isn't that a little like saying "Preschooler discovers toys"...what?  He already had hundreds?  Oh, okay then.  This new one must be special.

Balloons to float above Pentagon to test defenses
Because we all know that balloons are almost identical in mass and volume to hijacked airliners.  Maybe they'll add "circus clown" to the metal detectors at the entrances.  That should keep out about half of the judiciary and most if not all of Congress.

There was another one about Anna Nichole Smith being embalmed, but I didn't include it here.  Didn't see the point.  Of the story.  Or of the embalming, for that --- shit, I promised myself I wasn't going to do it.

Oh well.  Blow me.

Heh. And the blogs I sent you to are running on a box that has 256mb. And it's running 10 other blogs/content managed sites, as well as about another 10 or so static sites, as well as email for those domains, and DNS for about 40 domains.

Has we the resources (e.g. me + time + knowledge) I would switch everything we do here to Apache/PHP/MySQL running on some flavor of Linux, absolutely.

Um, maybe after years of CRITICAL SECURITY FLAW!!! warnings and updates, a few lemmings out there decided to NOT just go grab the next thing that fell out of Bill Gates' ass and swallow the red pill without question.
One can Hope.

I did see that 12 patches to fix 20 security problems in the Vista Package have already been released.
If Microsoft ever tires of releasing bad, fatuous code, they might take a swag at making Swiss Cheese :)
