[livejournal.com profile] mljm and I communicate as much by email as we do in person, and sometimes more.  It's the one place where our four year old can't interrupt a train of thought (an issue I struggle with) or try to drown out what she doesn't want to listen to.  What's wierd about posting here is that it adds yet another layer to that communication, and I'm painfully aware that someday I'm going to throw some thought online, and when I get home I'm gonna hear, "Saw your post.  Didn't occur to you to tell me first, eh Mr. Big Time Author?"  (Actually, we're a lot more passive-aggressive at my house.  I'd just wake up with a cat on my head.)

So, might as well get it out of the way, honey.  Here's something I didn't write in my morning missive: got a positively savage headache.  I know why.  A full day hunched over a serger and coverstitch machine after a dinner date with some new friends that lasted until 2:00 am Sunday morning, and a too late night last night getting a massive order ready to ship, cleaning up some in the kitchen and doing the dishes.

Still, a good weekend for all that.  The largest order in the shop is out, the house got a good cleaning on Saturday getting ready for dinner... It's amazing what gets done when two people are united to a common goal and common love, eh [livejournal.com profile] rowangolightly ?

Gods, yes! It's absolutely wonderful even though we shake our heads at the size of the to-do list!

And ditto with sometimes things get said here that may not get mentioned at home first, sometimes we just forget stuff! ....but absolutely no passive-aggressive stuff here at home, Bruce and I are completely allergic to that, having both lived with it and gotten over it.

Besides, I wake up with a cat on my head most mornings anyway, as does Bruce ...Bobby prefers my pillow and her daughter loves Bruce's. There's nothing quite like purring ear-muffs.

Oh yes, indeedy I do! I used to own the whole series but the ex got custody of them. I've been eBaying for a new set since Bruce has never seen any but so far keep getting out-bid!

But I'll admit that I don't remember the particular reference...I've slept since then. (That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.)

ok...

Elizabethan series where Blackadder inadvertently agrees to a drinking contest on the same night his rich & prudish Uncle & Aunt, the Whiteadders, are coming to dinner to discuss his inheritance. Blackadder forgets to remove his "comedy breasts" before coming back into the room w/ the relatives & his aunt mentions that he seems to be wearing a pair of "devil's dumplings."

"Oh good gracious, my earmuffs have fallen down."

Add the image of purring ones, &.....

OH gods, yes! And isn't Elizabeth shoved into the front closet, because she thought it was a masked ball and crashed the party, and they thought she was a whore in costume and mask that somebody'd hired for the evening?

I laughed so hard...and the Aunt is the same actress who plays Elizabeth's nanny. I have SO got to get that series again!

It is a little weird

Since I ended up here only after much persuasion by [livejournal.com profile] gmskarka, I tend to view it more as the equivalent of a party we are both attending, rather then any sort of private journal, although we have both mentioned things here on occasion before remembering to tell each other. Sometimes we actually end up communicating via comments on LJ, because it's faster than e-mail.

BTW, "cats on your head" must be a common theme in your life, because one of the funny-pet-stories that I have carried around for years came from you describing waking up with a splitting headache, only to realize that a cat was standing with his back paws firmly planted on your forehead in order to look out the window. :)

Good lord, the story comes back to haunt me. Nothing like waking up to the view of a cat's testicles.

that's what you get...

*chortle* That's exactly what I was thinking. Our newest acquisition, (no, that's wrong - he acquired us) Minko, Mr. Bitchy-boy, will be losing his in a few weeks here, I do believe.

I don't have to worry about my hubby ever reading my journal, as he doesn't have one and has no interest in having one. I have to put the laptop in front of his face if I want him to read something I've written or that someone else has written. A good bit of the time, he has gotten it in email before I post, anyway.

I readily admit to having email as my first choice for communication with most people. It allows me the opportunity to sort out what I really want to say before I have to say it. Face to face or phone conversation can be very difficult for me, because I am someone who wants desperately to be understood by the people around me, and the best way I know to do that is choose my words very carefully. The differences in my communication styles between oral and written communcation can be very startling to people who have only seen my written work and then have a conversation with me for the first time.

Bruce and I communicate each and every work day via IM *and* email since most of our QG business is conducted that way.

Gods, what did we do without it?

I'll admit right here that our earliest and most exciting flirting was done via IM! Hell, we've both kept the conversations and occasionally go back for a smile or a reminiscence.

Who knew?
