Sunday update, three happies
Sep. 21st, 2014 22:251. My boy turned 10 today. There were a few times when he was little and his body was still working things out that I didn't think he was going to live (I mean that literally, as in, sitting at Children's Mercy holding him as he lay unconscious and convulsing from a bad reaction to a treatment) and now he is a beautiful kid. Still growing, still learning how the world works, but he makes me proud every day.
2. I thought this weekend was going to be packed full with day-job, but I finished what needed doing in about six hours. With not much sewing to do, I spent the rest of my Saturday being uber-productive. There comes a point when I've been a computer professional all day that I need to do something physical:
Jami and I mucked out the chicken coop;
I cleaned up the pile of rose canes and dead redbuds from the garden clean-out two weeks ago;
I changed the oil on the van, a job I hate but which really doesn't take that long;
I finally used my power planer to shave the bedroom door to fit without sticking.
3. Waldo Pizza. They have ingredients there that I've never found anywhere else - burnt ends, mmmmm - and a terrific romanesco sauce. We only go when we're feeling rich: we can't get out of there for less than $18 a person, but it's the best pizza ever.
