mapsedge: Me at Stone Bridge Coffee House (Default)

Giant coffee mugMan, am I dragging today. I'm back at work with a few hours less sleep than I actually need - I'm sitting at my desk at work struggling to stay awake. If I weren't the only person here today, I'd have slept in and come in late. It's quiet, with no other energies in the place to pull from. I'm keeping the coffee going. It's not working. I might have to take a Sudafed just for the stimulant effect. (Late edit: I did. We'll see if it works.)

Christmas from my family was largely coffee related - a couple pounds of Starbucks holiday blend (very nice stuff, I must admit) and a new stainless steel travel mug - beautiful and much needed, though I'd never admit the latter point to my wife.

Some men hold on to old tennis shoes, but not me. I didn't want to throw away my old mug. Michelle was right, of course: after years of use it had a faint sour smell - totally masked when in use by the coffee I drink - but it was My Good Ol' Travel Mug (that I commandeered from her, truth be told) and could have served as a backup. She wouldn't have it, and threw it away. I tried to ignore the sound of it going into the trash can, and am trying without success to drive the image from my mind of it sitting at the bottom of the bag amid the turkey scraps and discarded cellophane.

And now we have people in the office. MoneyGuy and his WifeTheLawyer have arrived. There goes my plans for a nap.

I won't wax lyrical about the holiday. I'm simply too tired. I've got a blog for that.

I took small advantage of the three day weekend, but did get some work done around the house. The big project was cleaning up the landing at the top of the stairs, building shelving on the side porch to hold all the stuff I removed. It looks much nicer. I think $20 worth of stuff would finish out that area - that would be nice.

Strange that I didn't really plan to do it, but I was just tired of sitting on my ass watching TV or working on the computer. I stepped onto the side porch with a broom, intending only to clean it up enough to let us use the side door when/if the weather gets sloppy. One thing led to another, and three hours later there was a 84"h x 40"w x 14"d shelving unit and a clean stair landing. Yea me.

I figure I've got three months or so for all the indoor projects before tights orders start coming in and taking all my time.

Speaking of which, our Seamlyne customers have been very kind and I'm glad we re-opened. The Day Job has been pretty flaky lately - we don' t know from week to week if I'm going to get a paycheck, little things like that - and while we're keeping up on our bills, there hasn't been enough coming in for groceries and gasoline. Seamlyne has really helped with that. We had a December sale drove sales fairly well, and every order was delivered as promised. We'll run another promotion in January, see what we can do. Haven't decided for what, though. Shirts, maybe. I have a sewing machine to pay off.
