Busy night last night, going to be a busy day.  In summary:

To start with, I'm back on my own computer.  I found a dual-head video card at home and brought in to see if it still works.  Apparently it does.  It's a cheap-ass Matrox and probably won't last without having to reboot after while, but I can limp until the replacement gets here.  I had one just like it a while back and the memory went bad: it would give you an hour's worth of clean video and then go all wonky.  I don't know if this is the same video card or not.  We'll see.

36 ears is a lot of corn to put up.
It was mostly shucked by the time I got home.  Michelle blanched it, I set up on the table and cut the kernels from the cobs.  Only two more rounds just like it and we'll have enough corn put up for the winter.  We ought to be able to make money at this somehow...

The garden has succeeded beyond my expectations, even if I'm only truly interested in one of the items in it.  I counted six watermelons this morning.  They range from golf ball size to just larger than a softball.  Looking forward to trying them.  We also have green beans, cucumbers and tomatoes in the kind of quantities usually reserved for large grocery stores, but I don't get excited about them.  Just the watermelons.  (although, with a raspberry vinegarette the cucumbers make a yummy, cool salad.)

Installed a new ceiling fan in the dining room last night.  It's nice looking, moves a lot of air, and makes no noise at all.  The base isn't quite big enough to cover the opening in the ceiling where the beadboard panels all come together, so I'll be making a medallion this week to cover the gaps.  Bit of 1/4" plywood, some simple trim, and then I'll be able to finish trimming out the ceiling and call that room done.

I realized once it was up that I should have gone ahead and wired for the light.  No biggie.  I couldn't run that power or connect the switch without another junction box, which I don't have yet.

I also realized that all this time that Michelle and I couldn't agree on which fan to buy (hence the long delay in having one) what we were really shopping for was the right light kit.  Knowing that could have saved us a lot of grief, eh?

Being in my attic makes me appreciate my basement.  At least I can walk in my basement.  My attic forces me to be a contortionist to get around all the support structures; at least, for the most part, I don' t have to crawl.
