mapsedge: Me at Stone Bridge Coffee House (Default)

This icon is from the Kansas City Renaissance Festival.  I remember the time of day (lunch-ish) and the location (the Dell, across the lane from the Royal Pavilion), what I was eating at the time (a loaded baked potato, on one of the rare days I had spending money), and who took the picture (a co-worker of my mom's.)  This is the pic I use in dealing with performing issues where I want to be ironic.  The red in the eye of the drinking skull is the head from a rose a young woman gave me that morning.  I'm sorry to say I don't remember who she was.

Taken at White Hart ren fest it's first year.  Another "performing issues" pic, but with fewer negative inferences than the skull.  I tend to use this one to impart news, as in, "A little birdie told me..."

Msr. Le Directeur.  This was taken by [personal profile] 5rings at the reception for [personal profile] thebruce and [personal profile] rowangolightly's wedding.  I removed the background for clarity and upped the contrast by quite a lot.  This gets used for posts pertaining to videography where (as I'm facing the viewer) I'm actively involved.  (The other variation, where I am facing away, is for when I'm only peripherally involved, or more interested in the technical aspects of the writing.)

Ah, music.  A simple, generic icon, though older than the other variation (the brown shirt) so it doesn't get used much any more.  Taken at The Main Street Coffee House by my cousin Susan at an open mic some Saturday three or four years ago.  It would have been before my son Jami was born: the guitar in the picture is my Taylor but here I'm using a microphone - sometime after I got the guitar but before Jami, I had a Martin Goldline pick-up installed.  At the moment captured by the camera, I'm playing a G chord.

My favorite of the icons.  I have a special relationship with the Titanic and/or ocean travel in general, see this post.  This icon gets a lot of rants, mostly reserved for work or for any issue where I expect to encounter some tragedy before reaching my destination, or if the tragedy has already happened.  I will sometimes use it ironically, rarely for humor: that's what "The Scowl" is for.
