As viruses do in families like mine, the only ones in the household who don't get the bug are the pets. M's on the downhill side. Still very tired, so I'm working from home to step in with the chillins as needed.

In prep for White Hart, I'm letting my face sprout, and damn do I hate the feeling. Rowan, I hope you appreciate this! My chin's all skritchy. The day I get home after the faire closes, I'm going to ruin as many Gilette Mach IIIs as it takes to scrape off these whiskers. Okay, it's not as bad as all that...it's in that awkard stage between five-o'clock shadow and full-blown beardage, and with the men in my family, that lasts a long time. Years, sometimes. Thanks grandad.

Over the weekend we found, through a homeschooling email list, a captain's bed (similar to this) with a bookcase headboard, mattress and boxsprings for $50. SCORE. Katie's got her a new bed that matches her room like it was made for it, and storage underneath.

Our bedroom is finished except for the trim out and the new closet system - have to replace a bit of cedar damaged in the tear-down. Now repainted and carpeted, even unfinished as it is, is so warm and inviting I have trouble staying out of it. (And not for the reasons you're thinking, you evil thing...although...)

That's all for now. Just checking in.

I do, really I do! Charles and Di visited faire yesterday and had a nice chat with Chris J. resulting in the decision for him to play Sir Richard, a somewhat bumbly knight. So the way it's looking right now, I'll have more men in court than women...which may be a first in theatrical and faire history!

I got a happy-shivery feeling when I realized what fun it is going to be watching you and Chris getting to know one another and your characters interact and how Lady Grace will fit into that....ye gods, there's going to be some wonderful theater and so much fun! I just have this feeling...

I'm really looking forward to it, trying not to let my usual half-empty outlook intrude on the anticipation. It's no fun living waiting for the other shoe to drop, but it's become a habit over the last few years.

I'd find it useful to know what, as the character of Elizabeth, your expectations are of Raleigh's character. But we can take that discussion offline... :)

Buy a bottle of cheapass conditioner whose scent you can tolerate, and slather it on your face while you're in the shower, first thing. Wait to rinse it off until you've done everything else you need to do. It will help. :)

Tried it tonight when I was showering for bed, and it worked! Yea! Thanks, B.

My biggest problem is that I'm aware of it. I just need to get used to ignoring the feeling of having it on my face to begin with :)

You're welcome. :) When Ray had a full beard, I would make him condition it to keep it from irritating my skin. It was a side benefit to to him that it didn't itch as much.
