It turned out really well. We raised $ 7500 for Dwayne Stewart and family. I ended up seeing several people I knew but never expected in a million years to see there, Kelly Dougherty* for example. Also met Mike Dugger and Dave Agee (from Scartaglen, in case you were wondering). Nice guys, both of them. Met one of the muckety-mucks with the Missouri Valley Folklife Society who asked why she'd never heard of me before, and would I be interested in doing a concert sometime? That was fun.

I did record the entire concert on digital video, from which I'll make a highlight reel for the Stewarts as a memento of the occasion.  A couple of the bands expressed an interest in having more structured videos shot.  Fingers crossed!

Dopey me, still learning the camera, didn't have the microphone turned on for my first two songs, but the second two recorded just fine. "There Were Roses", with harmonies by Ruth Ward (who organized everything) and Dwayne, who loves the song; and "Welcome Paddy Home", learned from Frank Blair's CD Evergreen**. They were going to patch the camera straight into the board, but ran out of AUX outs, so the audio's got lots of ambient, in spite of the very directional mic on the camera.

I'm
trying to decide which to put on YouTube, if at all.

As the church's representative, I had to be there to open the gym, and stay to lock up. I was there - with a break to go home and change clothes - from 2:00 to about midnight.

Afterward, the kitchen had to be cleaned, as did the gymnasium. It wouldn't have been so bad, but they had a popcorn machine, and we all know what movie theaters look like after the show's over. Thankfully, the folks who organized the concert also organized the cleanup. I helped some, but stayed mostly out of their way, and they did a terrific job, even mopping the bathrooms.

* Sorry, hon'.  I don't know your last name now.
** An absolutely phenomenal CD; well worth the having in one's collection.
