It was a pretty good weekend. Saturday we visited the local PetSmart to look at rescue puppies, and Katie freaked when the representative sample padded over toward her. It's not the first time.
Last weekend, we went to a no-kill shelter in Auburn, Nebraska and met two puppies there. I was ready to take one of them home - an adorable, affectionate little mutt - but Katie got tense and scared every time he came near. I know she'd get over that reaction in time in her own home, but the dry-as-toast lady we dealt with decided that maybe our home just wasn't the right place for him. That's their policy. Kind of cheeses me off since the decision was so arbitrary; she didn't even give us a chance for a home interview.
So, no new dogs for us. Shiner's it, at least until Kate gets older. Strange, since she's never been attacked by a dog. Generally, though, she has issues with being touched by strangers in any way, especially if that stranger is about her size and has sharp little claws and puppy teeth.
Sunday was spent churching, making tights (downstairs) and cookies (upstairs), with an Applebee's lunch somewhere in the middle. The service (Applebees, not church) sucked and the food (at least mine) was lukewarm when it reached the table 1-1/4 hours after we sat down. Our server was...lackadaisical at best.
I mentioned to the pastor that I have experience with A/V equipment and will probably get drafted as a volunteer running equipment for services. Fine with me. Keeping my eyes open for opportunities, you know?
