Changes to our development server overnight left it completely unusable this morning. Now, attempting to fix the communication between development box and production box, the techs at our hosting provider left our production box unusable, too.

That'd be the server with the website of the largest Ford F150 dealer in the country on it.

One of our clients.

As soon as they figure it out, they'll be mad as hell. Add a fight before I went to bed last night and another one before I left home this morning, and the day's just starting out PEACHY.

Thanks for those vibes. We did just get notified by our hosting provider that the servers are back up. Now I can work. I still have more on my plate than I can eat, but I can now at least make the attempt.

So...your stuff is hosted by a company that does that?
Would you recommend them, aside from this gaff?
If so, could you shoot me their 411 at jkramer@dynamicvoice.com?

One of our solutions to surviving (well, 2 of them) include hosting our web apps somewhere besides wherever the rest of our servers land when we get done shaking the sno globe :)

Without hestitation! They've been wonderful to work with. This is the first real problem we've ever had that wasn't hardware related or some ballsup on our part.

They've got a data center down around 16th and Main.

We have a mix of servers (16-20) we can't dole out to hosting(8-10 of those), and web apps (the rest) that would be just as happy on some blade somewhere. So somebody that can do hosting AND colocating would be sweet; and apparently (from their website) they can do this.
We'll call them and get somebody out here for a quote.

Thanks!

For a development server, production server, and server with MS SQL Server 2000 (all Windows 2003) we pay ~1100. We "own" the boxes and everything that goes on them, but have an SLA that says they fix problems even if we cause them. Not bad.
