Another weekend of work
May. 1st, 2006 08:44It wouldn't be Monday morning if some part of my body didn't ache from something I did over the weekend.
And Monday morning it is.
My dear daughter K has been staring at unfinished drywall since last November and The Termite Incident. Finishing drywall is kind of a big project, but we just decided to knucle down and do it, now being good timing what with the rest of the projects going on. We moved her in to her brother's room and got to work.
So, K now has newly finished walls, a ceiling fan and new ceiling light. The ceiling itself is sky-colored, and the walls, cream. She wants a garden, so it's mural time...a painted apple tree in one corner, stretching up to take in part of the ceiling; a sun, a rainbow; clouds on the ceiling. At night, she'll look up to her ceiling and see stars. That's the part I'm looking forward to.
Topping off the job will be new carpet, in her room and ours. The old wood floors are pretty beat up, and very very cold in wintertime. Time for something soft and cushy for our feet.

Date: 2006-05-01 17:02 (UTC)At forty, I wish it was still that way! It's a great meditation aid, relaxing if nothing else, especially in the Spring with the windows open. We're getting ready to re-do the "master" bedroom, and I may just sneak that in when the wife isn't looking.
I would say, no, you're not too old :)
