mapsedge: Me at Stone Bridge Coffee House (Raleighbird)

The office park where I work is like a miniature Corporate Woods. It sits in a wooded area, bordered to the North by a pair of small lakes.

I recently discovered there are fish in the lower (west) lake. I took some bread scraps from my lunch down and fed them one day. Sunfish, in case you'd never noticed, closely resemble pirana when feeding. Get enough of them, they'll "crowd surf" - or "school surf" would be more accurate - to get to the food. Quite entertaining.

I took my afternoon break on the retaining wall by the lake, tossing bits of dried bread brought to work for just this purpose. Away from the road and the parking lots, it's a very quiet break from what can be a very stressful job.

There are geese on the lake this time of year, and one skanky old swan year 'round. They all came to investigate, declining to accept the bits from my palm, preferring instead to bite. They have no teeth and nothing fleshy on me close enough to grab, so none of it hurt, as such. Finger is still tingling...half a dozen nips, and never touched the bread. Idiots.

An hour left in the day, and ready to go home. Mood? Don't really have one just at the moment. Work to do, tasks clear in front of me, which is, I suppose, a good thing. Busy night waiting, nothing new there. Loving the change of seasons, with the hills to and from work patchworking into their Autumn colors.

Just an update.
