1. 18th century american history:
   We tend to forget that there is an awful lot of history within a few hours drive, where people didn't wear tights and use swords. Mine is more of a "tables and chairs" interest: I like the history I can touch and examine. I have no real use for Civil War re-enactors, though, at least the hardcore ones. If we're sleeping outdoors, I'm just as cold and as miserable in my machine made woolen coat as you are in your hand-made, meticulously researched woolen coat. I'm getting the same experience you are, so shut the fuck up already.
2. books on tape:
   The only way a guy whose hands are rarely idle can get any literature at all. Plus, they drown out my inner voice, and I don't have that much to say that I want to listen to.
3. iron chef:
   Sort of a how-to video, but with more exotic ingredients.
4. woodworking:
   Hands that are never idle. I like to build stuff. I love the smell of cut wood, the feeling of the wood under my fingers. It's quite sensual.
