 Art is where you find it.

To take a Buddhist stance:

There is beauty in buttons. Especially buttons that match, that don't fall off in the first washing.

There is beauty in curtains. Well made, that blend into their surroundings as naturally as flowers in a field, that give beauty and pleasure.

To quote an article I posted in my LJ on 2.20.2009:

Contemplating Drudgery brings to mind the image of Japanese Zen monks sweeping the sand in a temple garden. They look happy. There is contentment in their movements. They turn sweeping into poetry, a chore into an exercise of mindfulness.

Having had an opportunity to watch Japanese monks in that very task, I agree. And the results show how much they value that work.
