I was actually starting to like Facebook. It took a while to get used to, but I started to see the benefit of it. It has, however, fallen victim to the desire of middle management to stir the pot, to fix something that was never broken. They changed their homepage algorithm to show either, A. information their system decides I'd find interesting, which results in stale and incomplete content; or B. every fucking action taken by every person on my friends list. So, not enough, or a deluge of too much.
What a disappointment. If the madness continues and they don't bend to user pressure to change it back, I'll delete my account there. Anything worth saving is here on LJ anyway.
In case you were wondering what all the hubbub is about, here's a link. And another link.

Date: 2009-10-27 13:58 (UTC)Status Updates. Text only status updates from your friends. No pictures, links, videos, etc. More or less what we had before, but gutted.
News Feed. Posts displayed using a "popularity" filter similar to Google. If you have a small friends list, or your friends don't comment or "like" anything often, this list will get stale quick.
Live Feed. Absolutely everything. Jane friended Bob. Bob became a fan of Naked Mud-Slinging Hamster Wrestling. Jane unfriended Bob.
Everything you do, unless you know enough to turn these settings off and want to be bothered with it, is reported to everyone on your friends list, and, rumor has it, everyone with whom you have a pending friend request, whether you initiated it or not. Totally not cool, and a violation of privacy laws in some areas.
So there you have it. A dripping tap, or a firehose. Useless, in either case.
