How not to impress your boss
Mar. 20th, 2009 09:04It's no secret I'm not a sports nut. I follow football only on Sunday afternoons because it makes me feel nostalgic, but that's about it. However, let me assure you that I pay attention to the news and have a fair idea of what's going on generally in the sports world.
CFO shows up to work to day in a black and gold polo with a tiger at the breast, and a gold baseball cap with a tiger on the front. While waiting for my breakfast burrito to heat up, I glance in his office. "Wow," I say, "Couldn't help but notice your amazingly collegiate wardrobe today."
He takes a few moments to process all of the three-syllable-plus words and figure out what they mean, and says, "Yeah, alumni's playing today."
"Well," I say, preparing to retreat to my office, "I hope they get lots of runs."
