Coffee Geeking

Honeeeey...can I keep it if it follows me home? John said...
I don't like making coffee at work.
My coffee machine at home, a mid-range Capresso, makes a cup of coffee that feels silky, with a deep, opaque richness that I've just never gotten from any other maker.
My espresso machine, a $40 throwaway from the appliance counter at Lowes, a Krups, I think, can be nursed into making a decent shot for either a latte or a cup of Café American similar to, and in some ways better than, the Capresso.
My coffee machine at work, a 4-cup Mr. Coffee, makes harsh, coffee-flavored liquid that is near to undrinkable, but is at least better than nothing in the late afternoon pinch of The Sleepies.
I grind my own Roasterie beans, and use plenty of them. I use cold water. I take all the necessary steps, but the four-cupper just isn't up to the task.
It's discouraging to say the least.
Today, I found this. Yes, I want one. No, I can't really afford it, even on sale.

Date: 2009-03-19 14:07 (UTC)I am looking for options. Sherree would love to make shots, but doesn't want to fuss with the clean-up of an espresso machine. That, and we don't have counterspace to spare.

...oooOOOOOOOooo...
No, I never have...and now I'm gonna.
And, yes, the espresso/latté process does make a mess. I tend to grind enough beans for the week on Sunday evening so cleanup time is minimized.
