So you don't repeat the same mistake, let me share something I learned this morning: when you have a twelve pack of something in the trunk of your car in Winter, don't forget it's there.

Ouch. Happy Cleaning Day? (We did it once with a bottle of homemade mead in the heat of summer.)

I was getting out of the car with too much in my hands. I reached up and sat the 2 liter of Dr. Pepper up on the roof while I got the other stuff settled.

I got out and just as I turned to reach for it, it decided to take an Acapulco dive; one complete slow motion revolution.

It hit square on the bottom, right on the concrete, exactly next to my door sill. The cap exploded up and ricocheted off the lip of the roof, narrowly missing my face.

Just like the Diet Coke/Menthos videos, a geyser of Dr. Pepper gushed upwards at insane velocity, hitting my headliner just inside the door frame, deflecting inwards and showering the entire front interior - windshield to floormat, dashboard to head restraint - in caramel color and corn sweetner.

It virtually emptied the entire bottle in that one blarf; And I had cloth seats.

Yum.

I don't set liquids on the roof of my car any more - EVER.

Much sympathy.

Oh no!

I stopped Bruce from doing that right after our Yule party with a box diet Coke that was on the front porch.
