A National ID card

This is a little outside my usual stuff, but I found it extremely interesting to think that - common sense and logical thought notwithstanding - the "mark of the beast" that was all the rage from pretty much every pulpit in town when I was in high school might just become a reality.

A national ID card?  Not for me, thanks.

It's your SSN.

They did it when they took that piece of private information and made it your ubiquitous unique identifying number.

Now you can't even take your baby out of the hospital when it's born without getting a SSN aasigned.
