Nose still sore, along with a constant headache that never quite goes away. Bruised, though not broken, I'm pretty sure.
So at least I have my health.
Spent much of yesterday in the basement, cleaning, organizing, purging. For the longest time, the room under the dining room (hereinafter referred to as "the freezer room", since that's where the freezer is) has been open to the garage - during warm weather that wasn't a problem. With colder temps, and me wanting to eventually use a portion of the space for a recording booth, it was time to close it off. I built the door using scrap lumber and plywood and it serves the purpose. I'll replace it eventually with a real door/doorknob - going to pay a visit to the Re-Store and buy something cheap and paintable.
With all the work, all the stuff trashed or Goodwill'd or properly stored, it's much nicer than it was. It will always be a basement room - there's no avoiding that "dungeon" feel, but with a futon or a comfy couch my office could almost serve as a fourth bedroom. That'd be nice.
There's still a lot in the freezer room that has to go: fabric, and books, and miscellanea that we've accumulated and basemented and never looked at again. Some can go with simple re-organization, some we just need to be honest with ourselves and get rid of. The goal is a clear space and a clear path. Right now, the room has neither.
