A weird day that ended well.

Because of all the illness residuals I've been dealing with, I have a persistent sore throat and I'm very tired pretty much all the time as my body continues healing. Most days since Christmas Eve, I've taken some form of nap. Usually, my head hits the pillow and when I open my eyes again it's three hours later and I feel, if not refreshed, at least better.

Not so today. I woke after an hour feeling grumpy and, for want of a better description, out of phase. Also, left eye wouldn't focus well, as if I were wearing a contact lens that didn't quite fit. Scheduled to go to Star's for wings and other yummies, I almost had Michelle cancel but decided not to. Feeling weird with friends is better than feeling weird alone, and with this group of friends, weird is okay: par, even.

I'm glad we went. It took a while, but eventually the grumps eased and I got back into the Bill Groove. Good food, good company will do that.

It was a long drive home, adding a side trip to pick up the kids. We left at 7:00 and finally walked in the door at home at 8:30. From use - especially after a phone call from my sister - I've just about lost my voice and my throat is raw and feeling ill-used. I'm ready for bed, and as soon as I press "Post to billthetailor", I'm doing just that.

Before I go, though, Happy Christmas, y'all. It was good to see you. Thanks for being my friends to begin with, and for putting up with Grumpy Me.

As soon as I finish my nano 2007 story, the one about the spy who saved his daughter, I'm gonna work on finishing Sid. Doesn't matter if it never makes it to film. I just think I'd like your take on it. And yeah.... there's lots of healing that goes on with friends and family. Specially if it's the right family. and the right friends.

I can't imagine you being grumpy, Bill. But then, I can't imagine me being grumpy either ;). Be well, my friend, my brother.
