mapsedge: Me at Stone Bridge Coffee House (Default)

Had to do something physical; there's been so much computer work in the last month my entire body was starting to atrophy in a sitting position. Couple of weeks ago, we bit the bullet and bought a bundle of siding: 6" cedar finger-jointed lap siding, to be precise. Since replacing the windows on the front of the house and the one in the back bathroom, the "skin" of the house has had holes in it. With winter coming, I needed to get the siding done.

Last night, Katie and I painted all the boards, eight feet long, ten in all. Back priming is supposed to keep the paint on the exterior from peeling. When we repaint, well see won't we?

Today, I did the worst part of the project, the siding around the back bathroom window. I anticipated that it would be difficult and it was: this is an area where a bit of roof butts up against the wall of the addition. I had to remove the guttering to finish; fifty feet of seamless guttering doesn't cooperate easily. I screwed a couple of boards into the soffit at my end and in the middle as a sort of scaffold, and pulled all the nails. Worked like a charm. With the guttering out of the way, the actual siding piece was easy.

Now, at 7:18, the entire job is done. I even got the guttering back up and the deck swept. Yea me! Tomorrow, I'll do the front of the house. It should go a little easier, since there's no guttering.

Casualties: amazingly, only one. I got a splinter in my thumb. That has to be the least I've been hurt working on this house. Miraculous.

Sold some thread today, about a dozen cones for pennies on the dollar, but every little bit of money that comes in helps. Still trying to sell the big serger.

Have you advertised in any sewing/costuming communities here on LJ, that allow sale posts? I belong to some...if you do up an advert for me, I'll post it around for you, and on my f-list, since I've got a number of costumers there.
