Andy McKee - yes, he is amazing. He is also local: lives in Topeka. He plays around the area on a fairly regular basis, although I haven't had the chance to see him yet.
Andy played in the Gallery at the store a few months ago. He is just the nicest guy you will ever meet. He is planning on coming back through in the fall, I'll let you guys know when he does.
Yeah, he's pretty phenomenal. He's part of a stable at a particular label that backs up experimental and virtuosic guitarists. Don't remember the name off the top of my head, but he's incredible.
I negotiated a "memorandum of understanding" with myself a long time ago: if I can figure out a way to do what I want to do with any given piece, I'll be happy. It's hard to keep that in focus when you watch him, I'm happier if I can.
Phenomenal! Reminiscent of Michael Hedges. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTC7kPZZmuM edit: This is actually the Michael Hedges I was thinking of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLXBABH2JuY&feature=related
