Further into the article we also learn that they also plan to sue "Little League Baseball and a sporting goods chain that sold the bat."
Why? Well, the ball comes off a metal bat faster than a wooden bat. *
Okay. Sure, I'll buy that. Here's my question.
Did they raise their concerns over the usage of metal bats when they signed their son up for the team? Did they question the team's coaches and managers when they dropped their son off for practice? Were their cheers of, "Strike him out, Stevie!!!" tempered, even muffled by their fear that somehow, indirectly, the metals bats being used by the teams could cause grave injury to their star pitcher?
I doubt it. No, really doubt it.
They have my sympathy over the injuries to their son. A severely disabled child was (and still is) my biggest fear in having a family. Having a child who is merely autistic is hard enough on me and Michelle; I can only imagine what they're going through.
But they still come across as gold-digging idiots. LLB, I maybe could see that. But the store that sold the bat? (and probably thousands more just like it)
Please. Sanity, that's all I'm asking.
