Home from the hospital
Dec. 14th, 2007 12:25Jami's fine, but unhappy, sleepy, and dizzy. All at the same time. I can hear Michelle walking around upstairs, which means Jami's probably now in his bed asleep, or at least comatose in front of Blue's Clues.
Either prospect is fine. Boyo is home, and the procedure went fine. He woke from this visit much differently than the first time: frightened, angry, and hurting, he struggled mightily to remove the IV and escape the place until the nurse bribed him with a popcicle. Well done, nurse, well done.
We'll see over the next few weeks how his behavior and speech will change. It ought to be interesting.

Date: 2007-12-14 18:48 (UTC)Already he can hear better. He allowed the tv to be at a lower volume that it was before we left this morning. But as Wm said, it'll be interesting to see what happens in the next couple of weeks.
Thanks for the thoughts. You Christmas card came today! Thank you :)

Date: 2007-12-14 19:03 (UTC)While the dr was in Jami's ears he suctioned a lot of the junk and since the tubes allow for drainage he can already hear better. It will take time for the rest of the fluid to drain and for his hearing to return to normal, but it's already better than it was.
It's also amazing how quick the hearing loss happened. His ears were fine until the end of Oct when he burst that eardrum. We believe that was the time when the original tubes fell out and then everything filled up and couldn't drain. He's just been going to more extreme measures over the course of 7 weeks or so to deal with the hearing loss.
