Performing at KCRF
Oct. 14th, 2007 13:12It figures that the one day in ten years I go out to KCRF as a performer - albeit unofficially - it rains at a rate of about two buckets per minute. On just the walk from media booth to the banquet tent for morning meeting, I was soaked to the skin.
I enjoyed it, though. Because of the rain, my reason for being there - the treasure hunt finale - was cancelled, leaving me without any specific duties. Performing without a schedule or contract - and therefore without accountability - was great fun: performing the way I remember it, instead of the neutered, Disnefied, sterile and ever-so-safe performance of these late Stamberger years. I like being abusive to patrons, whether they deserve it or not, and so do the companions of those so abused. Rissa is fearless, and great fun to watch.
Note to self: keep the testicles away from Rissa. It's just better for us all, that way.
Having the freedom to leave when I could no longer feel my toes was nice, too, with apologies and sympathy to the contracted folks who had to stay.
I got to see people that I like and miss - Tess, thanks again for the sleeves - and eat food that under normal circumstances I would never consider.
I'd do it again.

Date: 2007-10-15 16:17 (UTC)*raises eyebrow* Don't knock it unless you've done it. It's damned hard work walking around in a 40 pound costume having to be perfect regardless of the conditions; those who choose to do it and do it RIGHT...full out, 100%, work harder than anyone else in the lanes. Lisa did a damned fine job. Can't speak to the other royal court folk as I didn't watch them but I have real opinions about this, needless to say.
But some of the best time we had in the 'old days' were on rainy days, playin' games with the Court and the JRs!

It isn't "fun" anymore.
And howdya like having a specific PG-13 area where all bawdy entertainment is imprisoned?
When E V E R Y T H I N G must be scripted and 'scenarioed' to comfort his need for Control, there is no joy in Muddville, um, er, Canterbury...
