The State of The Bill
Aug. 9th, 2007 09:59I am cranky today.
Back on June 28th, as we picnicked on our way to Crystal City, Colorado, I bit down on something hard and (I thought) bruised a molar on the right side, top. Found out this morning that I'd actually broken that tooth, evidenced by the piece of it that finally came loose and fell out. It doesn't hurt (yet) but will need repairing.
Been a tough couple of weeks here at work. I've embarked on a project that has a level of complexity my partners here underestimate, which is frustrating because - no matter how I explain it to them - they keep setting unrealistic deadlines. The work is piling up, like it does, and they feel constrained to remind me at least twice a day, but, guys, this is what you get when you rewrite a system that took two years to get where it is to begin with.
I'm done with the heat, but that's been true since I started on PPI class drugs Way Back When*. There's little case history but plenty of anecdotal evidence that treating GERD also has an affect on how the body tolerates heat and sunlight. Gotta keep The Bill cool. Second weekend of September should do it.
Got a helluvalotta rain last night, along with a lot of lightning and thunder. So much so, in fact, that I traded beds with Katie so she could take comfort from the presence of an adult. Why didn't we just let her sleep between us? Jami had that spot, for the same reason. There just isn't room, even on our king bed, for two adults and two kids, one of whom is Jami**. Katie's bed is three inches shorter than I am tall, and (for someone my size) pretty narrow. It was like trying to get comfortable on an ironing board. I didn't sleep much, and, therefore:
I am cranky today.
* A span of time greater than five years and less than infinity.
** Who, regardless of the available space, sleeps sideways, and uses up more space than he actually physically occupies. We can't figure out how he does it.
