Gasoline was $1.95/gal at the 23rd and Noland Rd. QuikTrip this morning.  I didn't expect to see that until next Spring, if ever again.

Is it wrong to not want to inject myself into a pissing match between one of our customers and one of their vendors?  The way I see it, it's not my problem their SSL certificate expired because their IT vendor has no motivation to stay current.  I've emailed him, I've called him.  He assures me stuff is getting done.  I do not write his checks, so he has no reason to comply with my directives.  While my default state is "asshole", I don't as a rule actively pursue that*, which is exactly what will happen if I get in the middle of the issue.  The way I see it, our customer needs to get control of their vendor.

In the middle or not, there is no way for me to win here, and I hate being in this position.  The slats of the barrel I'm currently bent over are scritchy.

Finger is still sensitive, but healing.  The wound is "T" shaped, and I'd like the skin there to stop catching on things before we call it good.  Another day or two and I can go without a bandage, I think.

I was wrong about being able to play the guitar: the band-aid catches on the strings and I end up with more grace-notes than the songs strictly require.

Kids are both as fine as they can be with the change in seasons.  A few overnight sniffles, but loving the cooler weather.  This weekend will mean more siding, plus lawn cleanup.  Michelle told me yesterday that we'll get the siding, one way or another.  I'm good with that.  I'll probably change the oil in the van once the day warms up on Sat or Sun; and my left front tire has a nail in it that needs fixing.  I need to borrow my fil's air compressor to do that job.

Katie spent the night at her grandparents' last night, and poor Schipper didn't know what to do with herself.  She followed us around everywhere we went, and later wanted to sleep on our bed, but that's not one of her choices.  She ended up sleeping on Katie's bed, up by her pillows.  Pathetic, and cute.

* it just happens.  Stop that snickering.
