The setup here has always been a little crazy - at one point the subpanel controlling all the circuits in the addition on the west side of the house was wired directly to the outside feed. Pulling the Main had no effect. Thankfully, we upgraded the electrical two years ago so now - except for the issue described above - we're more or less correct.
