Not much into April Fool's Day pranks. My ever-so-literal mind doesn't see the point, and in any case my life is complicated enough without throwing that sort of shit in. Show of hands, anyone surprised? No?

Right. Onward.

----------

In the "Let me drop everything and work on YOUR problem" Department, a panicked phone call from a web client about incorrect inventory data has thrown a severe monkey wrench into the morning's cogs. Sheesh...just because we show them offering $3000 off every car, he gets all in a snit about it (yeah, that was self-deprecating sarcasm...this is honestly a bad thing that needs fixing.)

I'm doing what I can, but all of this is controlled by a system I didn't write that is hopelessly spaghetti'd together. If the basic tools I have don't fix it, the best I can do is to take his inventory offline until the issue is addressed by DataGuy, who is home with a 102º fever and not planning on being online much today.

EDIT: he's on it. I feel for him, sick as he is, to have to deal with this. I don't much like him (or his coding style), but I am capable of compassion.

Ever been in a peaceful valley when the dam upstream breaks and you watch with horrified fascination as the wall of water comes rushing down at you?

I feel that way about Seamlyne right now. It seems that our season has started a bit earlier than I thought it would.
I'm grateful for the money coming in, don't get me wrong, but with an activity nearly every night of the week - swimming lessons, Irish dance, coffee house side work, etc - it's going to get hectic in a hurry. Scratch that, it's hectic now.

Wow. Be careful what you wish for, right?

Michelle and I are going to have to adjust how we handle running the kids around. We can't all be together as a family all the time unless we can find a way to cart the kitchen and the costume shop with us everywhere we go.

----------

On the upside, the Morris family are all healthy at the same time, aside, that is, from sinus and tension headaches.

Thanks to Seamlyne and a few capital expenses there, we're in a better position coming into tax time that we have been in several years.

My world is starting to turn green again. The hillsides are starting to turn vaguely fuzzily green. I might even have to mow this weekend. What a joy that will be - no, really. I like the first mowing of the season. It's mowing in July and August that I don't like.

Concert tomorrow. If I can get a chance to practice, I plan to add at least three new songs to the set. That'll be nice.

Y'know, the house across the street from us is for sale. You could move over here, and then we could help you shuttle kids, dye fabric, etc (well, ok, that last one is contingent on your being willing to watch us ruin a few batches first. Learning curve, y'know). Personally, I think this is a brilliant plan. We'll help you pack. *grin*

Wow Dude. See... I have a theory about days like this. My yesterday started all happy and relaxed and then I get a phone call from my ex, all in a panic due to some error she made which cost her some of her Social Services benefits. A big deal to her, not so much to me. From there it just sort of grew into that day that feels like it is moving so fast that if you stick your arm out the window, it'll get lopped off by a passing mailbox (Which is the scare tactic my parents told their young sons to keep them from putting their arms out the window)

My theory ... more like a postulated pre-hypothesis... looks a the world as a big savings bank. You have a string of good days or a day when things go really easy and comfy. The world is ok. Then, if you are the sort that has been selected for heavy duty in a weary world, you'll have all sorts of crap shoved at you, all at once. Just to test your mettle. If you bend without breaking and make it through alive, congratulations! You made it to side six and the next round. If you give up and throw the covers over your head... tomorrow will be three times worse.

I suspect you are destined for great things, be it through your actions or the actions of someone you influence.

and that is my fortune cookie for today.

I'm glad Seamlyne is picking up but SO understand the wall of water image. SO understand. *g* Feeling a bit guilty about all the word of mouth I've been giving Seamlyne, but not that much. If you get an order for a shirt from California, a man named Taylor, that's from me. Yes, Charles' son. And I'm not sure who else, I know I spelled out the web-site name for someone in a store the other day. I should get cards from you, I really should.

Concert? Where? I know I got the email but I've slept since then and don't remember. Short attention span and all that.

Yeah and SO not surprised that you feel as I do about April Fools.

We hope to get paid next week and then I'll be adding to your workload for Seamlyne... :)
