It's been a pleasant realization that I haven't seen anyone here whose presence surprises me, with the possible exception of purpledumbass, though as I think about it it makes a certain sort of sense. D. Reardon would surprise me, for reasons I'm sure you would share.
I do tend to be dreadfully critical of folks who can't seem to be bothered to learn to communicate, in written form or otherwise. We work with our daughter, Kathryn, on saying "yes", "no", and on keeping eye (or at the very least, face) contact when speaking, though at her age (four) it's more about making herself understandable to me, since I don't hear very well. Hopefully someday that will fold into good communication skills. She's already got my sense of humor and timing.
