Thank you. That's the very first comment on GIMP's deficiencies (other than the issues of CMYK and higher color resolution, which I believe are on their way to being fixed) I've seen that wasn't "OMG GIMP's UI is teh suck, it's not just like Photoshop".
I hope you'll head over to the GNOME Bugzilla and submit bug reports/enhancement requests as appropriate.
