There are a few different takes on this, any of which are equally plausible and bullshit - take your pick.
- We all choose to come through life to learn something. There is no overarching god writing the story of our life; you write your own. Seems what You and Jamie need to learn from each other has been sharply defined.
- God is a rat bastard, who allows terrible things to happen to good people. He allows war to be fought in his name, all the while his church preaching Love. I find this one particularly difficult to reconcile, and causes my mind to reject the common notion of 'god'.
- Loki rode Coyote through your camp specifically to piss out your fire. Although a vivid mental image, it is probably as unlikely as #2.
- Shit happens. We read what we want to read into it, be it Destiny, Faith, or Injustice. Things happen because they Do, and we bend them to fit our wants and reason. I believe this defines 99.99% of everything that happens. But man...That .01% is killer ;)
