mapsedge: Me at Stone Bridge Coffee House (Default)

Back in November, [livejournal.com profile] aerie13 introduced me to an event/group called SongPull. Like NaNoWriMo, it poses a challenge, in this case to write and perform a new song in thirty days, performing in an environment that offers honest feedback and recognition for the work. They video and post to the website.

The song in this video is unfinished - a portion of a borrowed riff and unfinished last verse. I'm also nervous as hell.

(Turn down your volume; the player starts at 100%.)

There are just some folks whose music can make my eyes tear up, joyfully, from the first few notes as they hit the air. I teared up because this was all you.

I liked the song for it's roughness, for it's honesty of intent, and for it's heart. It is the slab of marble in which the statue can be seen, waiting to be born. Maybe someday you'll post the full and finished version, maybe?

I could tell you were a bit nervous, but how nervous could you be with a rhino in the background? The energy just added to the song.

Neat. Doesn't look like any events happening in Portland. Will have to keep an eye open for one.
