With the run-up to Irish Fest and an extraordinarily busy August, I'm well behind in getting tights orders out the door but I'm slowly catching up. I've found a supplier for yarn-dyed cotton-lycra so that's eliminated about 80% of the work that goes in to making tights, and for those few colors that we still have to dye, it's not so bad. The only challenge is the weight: the new fabric is somewhat lighter, and between colors the weight is noticeably inconsistent. I'm still searching though. If I had enough money I'd just order a mill-run of the fabrics in the weight and colors that I want. What didn't become tights I'm sure I could sell. It's a hell of an investment though (~$2000/run), and not likely to happen soon.

We've got eleven or so dance skirts to make for Driscoll. We got the seven do-or-die skirts out in time for Irish Fest. One or two need to be altered, which is to be expected with such a close run. Once all older orders are dealt with.

One more doublet to make. Mid-process on it. Dyed the twill tape trim gold (officer's doublet) and very pleased with how it looks against the black fabric.

We've got dozens of redbud trees that have sprouted up in the gardens. I moved one to a spot beside the driveway, and I plan to put in two more so that, when they reach maturity, the driveway will be lined with them. Was able to amend the soil around the new planting with compost from our own bin, so hopefully it will thrive. The compost is a mix of kitchen waste and chicken bedding (pine shavings and chicken shit), probably the most naturally and highly fertilized compost ever composted.

Jami has been loving the cooler weather, and after our evening on Saturday working in the rose garden (now just "garden") he asked me several times to go out and do more Sunday evening. While Katie mowed the front yard, he and I worked the side garden, pulling and cutting out redbuds and maples, removing ivy vines by the mile.
