mapsedge: Me at Stone Bridge Coffee House (Default)
We had an event every day of this long weekend. Saturday and Sunday with friends and chosen family, today with friends from church. I had a good time all around, but this Aspie is done. My brain is full, and I need a day or so to get it all processed and back to normal. Today's was a pool party, and my hips are complaining about all the activity. I'm also physically exhausted, and so I plan to take some ibuprofen and go to bed as soon as I am done writing.

In other news, I met a guy at today's party from church who is wanting to produce tutoring videos for students in debate and forensics. The project had stalled because he wasn't sure how to make the video portion of the project work, and I was able to alleviate those concerns and re-energize him. He is also, as it happens, a fan of Celtic music, a definite plus. I like him - affable and direct, I can relate to him without effort.

A few weeks ago, the church had a talent show - no, I didn't perform, I was in the studio working on my CD - and I lent them my video camera for the event. The sound is dreadful - fyi, never run a line output into a mic input - overdriven and harsh, and the video itself isn't much better, so I have made the effort to make the project more fun for me: I'm working it out like an episode of "America's Got Talent", complete with fancy graphics, fireworks, lens flares, blah blah blah. I spent an hour online searching for just the right music to download. Still haven't found anything that really grabbed me, but I have a few candidates that I can make work.

Just for fun, you can view the title sequence here (no sound, safe for work).

I have a performance at Stone Bridge this Saturday. I want to add a couple of new songs, but I may just focus on polishing what I've got and leave it at that for now. You know that scene in the Princess Bride where Westley is strapped to The Machine and Count Rogan says, "Instead of sucking water, I'm sucking life..." That's what producing a CD is like. There are thirteen songs I know really well right now - the other fifty or so of the regular tunes have been languishing.

We bought an apple tree today, a gala, raised organically from a seedling. It's about four feet tall and won't start producing fruit for several years. I'm okay with that.
