Comcast Sucks.
Sep. 22nd, 2008 08:29In a budgeting move, we dropped cable television a few weeks ago. Because M and I didn't watch that much TV to begin with, we haven't missed it. Strangely, neither have the kids - they've found some of their shows on the internet, and are filling their time in other ways otherwise. Broadcast DTV is far better quality picture than what we were getting on Comcast anyway.
We were told by Comcast that our bill for just internet service would be $45. When the bill came in it was $55 - not much of a difference, but we're all about the principle of the thing at our house - and were told that it was "policy". Ok, fine, no games: cancel the service at the end of the billing period, Tuesday, 9/23. (DSL kicks back on sometime between now and tomorrow, 9/23)
Apparently when removing service Comcast is hyper-efficient, and we find ourselves without internet at home today (assuming it's not just another outage.)
(Late Edit: appears to be just another outage. Comcast still sucks. It would be nice to have more than one cable provider in an area, get a little competition going.)
That's okay: the DSL modem stands ready.
We went to a high school reunion this weekend, but that's another post all on its own.
