mapsedge: Me at Stone Bridge Coffee House (Default)
It was good to pull onto Osage and see our little white house sitting there, and even better to walk into it's air-conditioned and mostly clean* interior.

I resisted the urge to kiss my living room floor, but it was tough. I kissed Tigger, though, when he meowed himself out of hiding after remembering who we were.

It was an amazing trip and I'm glad we made it, but I'm done travelling any distance for a while.

On the subject of travelling, we learned (among other things) that:
  • 103° at 7% humidity isn't really that hot, but 78° at 70% humidity is very hot.
  • our son can travel great distances, but a diaper can only hold so much liquid.
  • a carseat can hold a lot more liquid than a diaper can.
  • a carseat is far harder to clean than a diaper.
People complain about how boring the drive across Kansas is, but Kansas isn't the problem.  It's Eastern Colorado that sucks, and sucks bad.  All the money in the state goes from Denver, westward.  The rest areas between Denver and the Kansas state line are pits, and the land is flat and featureless.  Kansas at least has the Flint Hills and tall grass prarie.  For flatlanders, there's some really pretty landscape in the flint hills.

It's even good to be back at work, although that shininess is wearing off quick. At least, I can work without the frustrations that logging in remotely invariably entail.

There will be more, I'm sure.

* Clean due exclusively to Michelle's efforts before we left.
