mapsedge: Me at Stone Bridge Coffee House (gravedigger)

Building a fence.  Posting to LiveJournal about it.  Fence Post.  Get it?  Fence po--

*ahem*

An hour and a half after I started, all the post holes are dug.  Well, all but two.  The two that are left are directly over the buried stump of an oak tree that I forgot used to be in that corner of the yard.  If I wasn't straddling electrical, gas, and phone lines with the fence, I'd be more aggressive about it, but I'll shallow set those posts in concrete and call it good.  After all, there are seven other posts set 18" deep to support the whole.  It'll be okay.

So, all the holes done, and I stuck the posts in them just because.  They're 8' long, sticking 6-1/2' out of the ground, all leaning and have to be cut to size.  I saw our neighbor, an elderly woman I've known since I was four, sitting on her porch taking in the sun and watching me work, so I went over to say good morning (Michelle already had, and was sitting on the porch with her).  I said:

"Well, soon as the stockade's done, I'm installing a four pounder field cannon.  I figure the next time the ice cream truck with the electronic music comes through...BLAM!"

She laughed.  She thinks I'm kidding.

Off to buy the concrete and a large diet Dr. Pepper.

Tired.  Very, very, very tired.  Fatigued, even.

But the fence is built.  Michelle and I got 7 peonies moved - actually five or so, but we split a couple of them.  That leaves...let's see...fifty-somethin' plants.

I think what we'll do is move only one side - the side with all the erosion.  The other side is bounded by a set of tiered walls, and they can wait until autumn.  That means about a dozen plants to do today, which will probably split enough times to give several plants away.
