For the first night of our Anniversary Staycation, we went to New Theatre Restaurant with friends.  I've already said that the place just keeps sinking in the quality of the food and service (obvious that they're starting to cut corners), but the show was fun, Neil Simon's "Rumors".

Let me tell you, though, nothing sucks the comedy out of dinner theatre like hearing tornado sirens under the noise of the show.  I don't think very many people heard it, but I heard a few mumblings from a few people in the audience, so certainly some of us did.

The show went on.  I guess the house manager was checking the weather - I heard later that the actual tornado was in Bonner and didn't come close to where we were.

I will never forget being in the theater watching "Twister" with Helen Hunt and having the house lights come up in the middle of it, and the usher announce a tornado in the vicinity of Overland Park.

Hellooooo scary. And almost thought it was a poorly timed prank.
