My parents, aunts and uncles put no stock in ancestry or telling the begats to us next generation. It is absolute torture trying to feel your way back just a few jumps.
My family's previous generation was all about forgetting the old and embracing the new, and put no truck in trying to maintain a link to our forebears.
One of my aunts apparently traced Mom's side of the family back to the year 900 in the Britons. All that documentation was lost when she died and her daughter considered it worthless trash - an old woman's misguided hobby.
