mapsedge: Me at Stone Bridge Coffee House (Default)
[personal profile] mapsedge

My route to work takes me over the Missouri River bridge on 291.  As the water level dropped - thanks in large part, I hear, to an ice dam up in Iowa somewhere - a pile of debris started to become visible.  From the bridge, too far away to really see clearly, it looked like a couple of old railroad ties sticking up, ends butted together to form a rude triangle with the river's surface.  (I investigated one day by driving into L Benité Park, and it was, indeed, railroad ties.)

Now, the river has risen again, trading the railroad ties for other, floating debris.  There's still a little area of turbulence on the surface, though, and, having seen the cause I know what's under it.  I leave the reader to find whatever message they like, there.
