mapsedge: Me at Stone Bridge Coffee House (Default)
[personal profile] mapsedge
Spent much of Saturday on my roof with Kent and Kevin installing clips to affix lights on the house.  Remember what I said about Hallowe'en?  About how I felt like I lived in my own neighborhood for the first time since Katie was born?

Every year, a few of our neighbors hold their own lighting ceremony for the neighborhood.  They decorate their houses, and at a certain hour on Thanksgiving eve they turn their lights on, shoot off some fireworks, a retire to one of the houses for libations.

We've been invited this year.  The house is, for the first time in its eighty year history, decorated on the outside with lights.  Thursday night, we'll join the party and light up the house.  It ought to be fun.  One of the involved families I've known since they moved there in '71 - they remember me as a child, playing with their daughter.

Also, ditched the inadequate solar lights along the sidewalk and replaced them with a set of bright low voltage lights.  Now, not just the sidewalk, but the steps and wall down the driveway are lit.  It looks Very Nice.

Included with today's offering, a picture from Saturday.
