Katie-isms

Decided to try a new threat to try to intimidate some obedience from my daughter, since all the old threats have stopped working.

Me. "Katie, knock it off or I'll sell you to the gypsies."

Kate. "Daaaaaaaaad...I don't even know what gypsies are."

Me. "Nomadic Romanians."

Pause.

Kate. "Oh, well that's alright, then."

Ha! I have a story about that one. Used the same threat on my daughter. When she was 5 we went to Disney World. The theme of the parade that year was the Hunchback of Notre Dam movie. While watching the parade my girl started crying, and begging, "No Mommy, No! I'll be good I promise!"
There were gypsies in the parade.......she thought it was her time to go...

*snicker* You know you brought that one on yourself, right? This is not in any way a dumb kid...

That's so funny...I started threatening my girls with "sell you to the gypsies" when we lived in Germany and there were real gypsies everywhere, selling dead flowers that they dug out of the florist's trash. When I was po'd Rissy got to the point where she would ask "Gonna sell me to the gypsies?" Obviously, she was not worried. Now Rissy's threat of ,"I'm going to beat you and put you in a nursing home", makes sense.

Is that Rissy in the icon? Wow...I've always wanted to see her naked, although I'd pictured her a little older...

The part that strikes me most funny is that changing the threat from one unknown to something else equally unknown made it suddenly okay.

Yep, that's my Rissy in the icon. Her birthday is August 29th so I plan on replacing Mermaid Love with Rissy Love for that month. I've been busy scanning baby and other pics. Sorry, don't have any recent nudies to share.

I had vivid pictures of the "skittle gypsies" as we called them at KCRF in my head as I read this. I have to agree with Katie that nomadic romanians are much less frightening than the gypsies we've had at faire.
So good to see you at camp - your show sounded great! your talents never cease to amaze me!

Wow, I didn't realize that we "skittle" gypsies were a scary bunch. I sure had fun with it. :)
