No, not that Frank...at least I don't think so.

I can't imagine that Frank being that helpful.

Bookmarked and noted - thank you very much!

Speaking of which...that 'other' Frank...I ran in to someone who knew him at our Tipp gig. It was weird and funny.

He said, "Do you know Frank?" I said, "As in Frank Blair? Yeah, but it's been a lot of years." He said, "Yeah, we used to be really good buds."

Huh.

As an aside, I had heard that the Tipp closed down a few years ago. Is it in the same place and/or with Martin running it?

Apparently the Tipp changed hands and the new owner did a major remodel which pleased some folk and displeased some others. Then apparently he sold it to someone else.

It's the same place but I don't remember anyone named Martin. But then, we just met the manager since the owner was off in Florida for the weekend. Lovely place and great staff.

Martin was the owner when we started playing there in '93. Really, really tall and thin native Irish guy. Last name is escaping me in my morphine haze but it may come back to me later.

We always really liked playing the Tipp. Great, attentive crowds, good food, good room. Glad you guys had a good experience there. It's a great place to play and most of the board for NTIF used to frequent it, so it's a great place for exposure in the region.

We know most of the board of NTIF since we always go to O'Flaherty's Irish Music Retreat...talk about good contacts! And SO much fun, too.

Yep, we had a great time and hope we can go back again before we have to rebuild the band starting with Bruce and me after May, dammit.

This gig came through Mark Clavey who told us, actually Rachel told us this during dinner during Normed Med.Faire, that they refer to Queen's Gambit as their cover band....*lol* One way or the other, we're grateful for the referral, was very cool of Mark to do.

By the way, OT but...you probably have no idea how many times I've used your quote about Renaissance Festival being to history as etch-i-sketch is to Art.

Didn't even know it was you until Bill here told me...brilliant, utterly brilliant. And I've gotten tons of mileage and laughs out of it.

Thought it might be high time that I thanked you!

What can I say? I'm not the brighest bulb on the tree, but every now and then I light up. :)

*lol*

Well, you certainly did on that one!

Oh crap...I was trying to think of it and Bruce will remember, I hope. He's a good friend of Linda of AmberHawk from way back. I'll come back and comment if he can come up with it...I really suck at names.

Cool. When we moved I lost track of a lot of the Dallas peeps we used to hang with. Been trying to reconnect off and on as I have the opportunity.

Bruce doesn't remember his name either but I'll betcha that [livejournal.com profile] youngraven or [livejournal.com profile] typsygypsy from Spriggan would know it. And Gypsy was even there...and I'd betcha she doesn't suck at names nearly as much as I do.
