Positives for a Monday

Today wasn't bad, even though it was Monday.

1. With the paint finally dry, Katie got her gun put back together with no help from me. I brought her the pieces, and she disappeared with them and my screwdriver set, reappearing after half an hour with the completed piece. Proud of her. Now I want my screwdrivers back. Next step: barrel and flash suppressor, and I need to make the holster and accessories for the belt.

2. Rained on me just a little as I was taking the garbage to the curb. It is raining still. Autumn evenings and rain. Love it.

3. Apparently, my music was a great comfort to a dying cat. He dozed off, purring, to "Jamie Raeburn", and when the music stopped complained bitterly. It was a middle-aged folk singer rather than a flight of angels that sang him to his rest, and I'm absurdly pleased, even honored, that I was part of his final comforts. My fan club is down by one, and heaven is a little bit brighter. G'nite, Little Bit. Say hello to Tigger and Nafoill for us.

For what it's worth, you were also part of the small comforts to his kittymama. It's nice, in the hardest moments, to have a friendly, familiar voice coming through the speakers and reminding us that even the greatest grief can bring about beauty. Thank you for being part of that process.

Pro tip, though: dying cats do NOT like "Rattlin' Bog". ;)
