Mark your calendars

On Friday, March 18, 2005 (that's the day after St. Patrick's Day, just fyi) I'll be giving a two hour concert of accoustic Irish and American music at the Main Street Coffee House in Independence, Missouri. I've played in two bands before - okay, okay, one band that kept changing names - but this is the first time I've ever done the whole concert thing all by my onesy.

The concert starts at 7:00 or thereabouts, and is scheduled for two hours. Cover charge is $3.00. The Coffee House is located at 107 S. Main St., on the Square in Independence. I would love it everyone I knew would stop by to say "hi". Coffee shop's number is 816-836-COFE (2633) if you need more details.

If it works out, there is a coffeehouse down here in Emporia that does lots of live music, particuarly acoustic. (They banned the amps after a band's Sound Issues left a crack in the glass front door.)

Oy, that's extreme. Sometimes it feels like it ought to do that at MSCH. Their sound system isn't very good, and the accoustics of the room...

Wait, have to take a minute to laugh at that. "accoustics of the room" Plaster walls, wood floor, tin ceiling. Accoustics. Mm-hmm. Welll, it's not all THAT bad...you can certainly hear the music, but equilizing's a bit of a challenge. I've got a decent pickup in my guitar; for that matter, I've got a dynamite guitar to start with. That helps a lot.

I wish I could make it, but I will be on my way to California... If you do it again, let me know, because I'd love to come when I'm not otherwise booked!
