Final Weekend of White Hart

I'm approaching this weekend with mixed feelings. I'm a little sad that it's going to be done. It took a while for the ball to get rolling again; after all, I've been out of the game for ten years, and playing an unfamiliar character to boot. Now, just when I'm starting to warm to it, it'll be over. pfft.

On the other hand, this spring has been particularly stressful, and while life was reasonably quiet when I first committed to the event it got substantially LESS quiet as costume deadlines all hit at once. The heat last weekend was brutal, and I'm not an outdoorsy kind of guy.

Still, there are moments I truly enjoy. I haven't written about the faire yet, and probably won't. There simply hasn't been enough emotional downtime to process everything I've experienced.

I did notice, however, that I talk about this faire the way I used to talk about KCRF, back in the 80's and early 90's. Later in my KCRF performances, as I grew more and more cynical and embittered to the myriad of useless hoops we were forced to wear bells and jump through, I used to say, "I work at KCRF" or "I'm performing at KCRF". This faire, though, is different, the way I remember them.

About this faire, I say, "I'm a part of White Hart."

That's an important difference, and pretty much sums it up.

I'm not sure you know how much it means to me that you're a part of White Hart. But I'm absolutely certain that I understand the distinction between "working at" and "part of" am thrilled that you feel that way too!

I do believe that we're building something very special indeed there.

I know how you feel with this, William. It's been a fun bit for me, too. It's been a bit of a learning experience too (in addition to my lines and fights).

I only met you after you had gotten out of the performing side of things and like you said, were quite cynical about that aspect. Actually, that conversation is my first memory of you. It's awesome to see the side of you; I had heard you were one of the best back before I got involved; I hope I can perform alongside you at some point.
