Meme-ing before work

The LJ Names Meme...

1. My username is BillTheTailor, chosen largely because "I'm a tailor" is how I've identified myself for nearly twenty years, and is, through my business, how many of my readers became acquainted with me. Bill of course, the diminutive for "William".

2. My journal is titled "Ramblings, rumblings, grumblings, and rambling grumbly rumblings" because, at the time when I started my journal my daughter was very much into all things Winnie the Pooh, and as he is a great philosopher, I thought a title with Pooh-ish intonations might be nice.

3. My subtitle is "Et tu, Pumbaa?" because I think it's funny, and obtusely appropriate. The line is from Lion King 1-1/2, and is delivered by Timone at a moment when he believes his best friend has betrayed him, but is, five minutes later, the moment of his greatest revelation.

4. My friends page is called "My Friends Page". It makes an obscure sort of sense, don't you think?

5. My default userpic is me sitting in front of the microphone at the Main Street Coffeehouse on some Open Mic night a couple of summers ago. On the 17th, by the way, they're having a party from 6:00-ish to closing-time, open to the public, celebrating their second year in business, and I'm to be one of the featured performers.

Yes, that's an invitation, and I would love to see a bunch of people there.

We'll have to make that sometime...would be a lot of fun. And yes, Bruce'll bring the guitar, too, if that'd be alright.

Donno when but would be fun!

For open mic nights, they say on the website "2nd and 4th Saturday"...they lie. You really need to call them on a Friday and ask if they're planning on having open mic that week. It's pretty catch as catch can.

When they have it, it starts at 6:00 or 7:00 and goes till 11:00, and it can be a pretty eclectic mix sometimes. When I'm there, I, of course, handle the Celtic part of the program. Back in the day, when they would stay open until 2 or 3 in the morning, Bob Lewis (one of the founding members of Devo) would come in and listen and play. He lives not too far from the Independence Square.

Most of the time it's pretty standard coffeehouse stuff, but occasionally, just occasionally you get some real winners. We had a kid once who played AC/DC on the accordian, another night a cellist playing Mozart. The only requirement is that the entertainment stay family friendly.

You Just Never Know.

The 17th is by invite only, at least for the musicians, although Karen and David (the owners) would put anyone on the "stage" at my recommendation if there was time.

Well, the 17th is the day of our Yule party here at the house...durnit. But I *definitely* want us to jamm sometime!
